Izzi Hughes: CANCELLED Due To Renovations
February 18 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pmFree
“I am a 17-year old senior at Hendersonville High School. I have been taking various music, musical theatre, and theatre lessons since I was 8-years old. About five years ago, I turned all of my focus to music, and have been a student at Jim Beaver’s School of Music taking private lessons in acoustic/electric guitar, voice, and piano. I also have been part of his Rock Band Program, fronting a band called Calculated Error. In January of 2015, I went to Nashville and recorded two original songs on music row. After winning Wild Wing Café’s Acoustic Throwdown competition in March 2015, I began performing as a solo artist. I have performed in all sorts of venues, for all sorts of audiences. My original music has been written from my point of view as a teenager navigating real life challenges. It saddens me that the older generations consider my peers and me the “Throwaway Generation”, or that they assume everyone my age is too engrossed in their mobile phones to care about their future. However, I’m also sick of the teenagers in my generation who prove them right. I write my music with the hope that I can show teens that life is more than Instagram. It’s hard for our generation to be inspired to improve ourselves when the rest of the world has already given up on us. I refuse to accept that we are the “Throwaway Generation”, and it is through my music that I want to motivate teens to ignore society’s idiotic standards and show them that nothing is really that unrealistic.” – Izzi
